ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS

ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS

Supon specializes in the installing and servicing of following electronic systems:

  • Fire alarm systems
  • Fire extinguishing systems
  • Smoke removal and fire door systems
  • Voice Alarm Systems
  • Gas Detection Systems
  • CCTV monitoring systems
  • Intrusion and Hold-Up Alarm Systems

Fire alarm systems

The fire alarm system consists of electronic modules that operate together in order to detect fire and raise the alarm with optical and acoustic devices. Such alarms may be activated with automatic detectors of smoke, heat, flame, and water flow or using hand-operated fire alarm boxes. The signalling system is the core component of electronic fire protection systems.

Its main tasks include:

  • detecting fire as soon as possible and notifying the system operator of the danger;
  • transmitting the fire alarm signal to the Fire Service Department;

In case of fire the system:

  • notifies users of the facility in question of the danger using a dedicated audible alarm or a voice alarm system.
  • automatically activates fire-protection systems, e.g. fire doors, smoke removal and ventilation systems, lift controllers, access control systems, etc.
  • activates fire-fighting water, foam or gas systems.
  • monitors and controls operation of fire-fighting equipment such as fire doors and dampers, sprinklers, and many others.

Fire extinguishing systems

While the fire alarm systems are designed mainly to protect human life, the fixed fire-fighting systems complement electronic fire-protection systems and are employed to protect premises and their parts. Most often, they are used for protection of facilities that have to operate without interruptions due to their significant role in the economy, e.g. power plants, server rooms, telephone exchanges, etc. Protective systems are also often installed in sites of high cultural or material value such as historic monuments.

Depending on the protected property, fire-fighting systems may use gaseous, liquid, aerosol and other extinguishing media.

Smoke removal and fire door systems

In case of fire, the top priority is always given to saving people. The sooner the fire is detected and the sooner evacuation starts, the better are the chances of avoiding fatalities.

It would appear that the highest danger to human life during a fire is in its immediate vicinity. However, this is not the case.

Most of injuries suffered in fire are caused not by burns, but by inhaling smoke. Hot smoke poses a serious danger to respiratory tracts. When air is sufficiently hot, a single breath may be lethal.  Smoke often spreads so fast that people on their escape routes are not able to reach emergency exits. When exposed to fire, synthetic materials, commonly used in modern buildings, produce particularly harmful substances. They obstruct breathing, cause irritation and are toxic to humans. Additionally, smoke makes it difficult to find way in the building. As fire develops, the level of oxygen in the building falls because it is used for combustion. The reduced amount of oxygen slows down the fire, but at the same time increases the release of harmful gases that are produced as a result of incomplete combustion and make breathing difficult or even impossible.

In order to mitigate the risk of death caused by fumes, safe escape routes are arranged in buildings.Incombustible materials are used to separate a staircase or corridor or to isolate places of a high fire hazard such as a boiler-room. Access points to exit zones are fitted with fire doors that close automatically to a signal from the fire detection system. However, using incombustible materials alone will not secure a safe escape route as it is also necessary to provide smoke-free breathable air. To this end, various smoke removal and air supply systems are employed. Possible solutions span from basic natural ventilation up to a variety of fire ventilation and overpressure systems.

Voice Alarm Systems

Voice Alarm Systems are used to announce information on danger or fire in order to facilitate gradual evacuation of people from the building or area in case of emergency such as a fire.

The system uses pre-recorded messages that are announced to a signal from the fire alarm system in a specific area or across the entire premises. Voice alarm system may also be used to announce live messages using a dedicated fireman microphone in order to ensure efficient evacuation of people during a fire or other life-threatening emergency. According to survey results, such a method is much more effective than traditional fire alarm devices.

In everyday use, this solution may also serve as a public address system whereby background music, commercials or other synchronized messages are played in selected or all areas.

CCTV monitoring systems

A perfect visual monitoring system (CCTV) should be user-friendly, flexible, and capable of providing high-quality images, be it day or night, that would support analysis of events occurring at the facility or be used as evidence. CCTV solutions may be employed both inside and outside buildings.

The visual monitoring systems are a common and proven tool that facilitates crime prevention and protection of people, public buildings, companies and private property. They provide immediate warning in case of danger and significantly reduce the number of robberies, thefts and acts of vandalism.

Our state-of-the-art cameras allow the effective monitoring of premises at all times of day and night, irrespectively of light conditions. Larger areas may be under closer surveillance, if rotating or rail cameras are used. Supon’s offer features modern, fast-rotating cameras ensuring accurate monitoring of a suspected area due to their unlimited horizontal angle of rotation and a zoom lens capable of delivering a large close-up. CCTV systems employ digital technology, which significantly increases the level of specialist knowledge and effectiveness of security services, e.g. in a company and across the whole organization, while the remote access to images from cameras over a computer network often turns out to be an invaluable company management tool. Digital solutions found in CCTV systems allow users to find a footage they need without having to deal with time-consuming searching through many video tapes.

Practical examples of monitoring

  • Using a TV set in the living room for monitoring children playing in another part of the house.
  • Using the Internet to provide parents with live images of children in nurseries and kindergartens,
  • monitoring of the baby-sitter, including audio transmission,
  • monitoring of employees at work either using a remote live video transmission or scanning through footages from the whole day,
  • recording events in the car park in order to document attempts of burglary or find drivers who caused a fender bender.
  • live monitoring of real estate, an entrance gate or a wicket while at work or on holiday,
  • monitoring of a summer house over a mobile phone network, for example in order to test the alarm system.

Intrusion and Hold-Up Alarm Systems

Intrusion and hold-up alarm systems should promptly and effectively detect an intruder on the premises and notify relevant services of the fact in order to initiate necessary action. Supon offers a wide selection of devices, including alarm control units, various detectors, alarms, peripherals, and accessories. Owing to many years of experience, we are able to provide our customers with the optimal burglary and hold-up alarm system perfectly suited to their premises, be it a small house, department store or an office building.

Main features of the alarm system:

  • The system is armed with a code that has to be entered using a keypad with an LCD display, a proximity card or a radio remote control.
  • The building may be divided into several separately armed zones (e.g. a garage, ground floor, first floor).
  • Loud siren with flashing alarm light.
  • The alarm signal may be transmitted over a GSM network to neighbours, family members, friends or a security agency.
  • The system remains active even for a few days in case of power failure.
  • Text messages may be sent with information on alarms, defects, power failure, discharged battery, etc.

What else is the system capable of?

  • Detection of fire, flooding, gas or carbon monoxide leak.
  • Control of lighting, external roller-blinds, garage gate, etc.
  • Sending a text message when a postman puts a letter into your letter-box.

FIXED FIRE-FIGHTING SYSTEMS

FIXED FIRE-FIGHTING SYSTEMS

Fixed fire-fighting installations are automatic systems capable of detecting fire, activating fire alarm, and launching a fire-fighting operation in the protected zones. In case of fixed gas fire-fighting equipment, fire extinguishing is carried out using various gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), inert gas mixtures (e.g. Inergen or Argonite) or chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Fixed gas fire-fighting systems are employed when material value of protected property is of significant importance or if it is important to maintain continuous operation of protected facilities. Examples of such premises are server rooms, data processing centres, valuable archives and museums.

Supon provides technical designs of fixed gas fire-fighting systems that feature advanced solutions available on both domestic and foreign markets and meet all regulations in force in Poland. Our offer includes delivery of building permit designs and detailed designs with estimates, bills of quantities, specifications for the completing and commissioning of works, and other documents required by the Building Law.

Fixed fire-extinguishing equipment is used in order to:

  • immediately detect and extinguish fire
  • ensure the safety of occupants of protected premises when extinguishing agent is discharged,
  • ensure continuous operation of equipment regardless of external occurrences,
  • meet requirements specified by building, fire-prevention, and insurance regulations.

Extinguishing mechanism:

  • In case of fire, protected premises are completely filled with extinguishing gas
  • Oxygen concentration drops below the level necessary to maintain fire
  • Gas discharge time: up to 60 seconds
  • Extinguishing concentration of the gas is maintained for more than 10 minutes.

Basic components of the system

  1. An automatic fire detection, alarm, and extinguishing system
  2. A automatic system for the sealing and unloading of the premises being extinguished (temporary compensation of overpressure and/or negative pressure)
  3. Fire-fighting systems

AUTOMATIC FIRE DETECTION, ALARM, AND EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

  • Fire-fighting central controller
  • Detectors of fire-related occurrences
  • Surveillance circuits with alarms, pushbuttons, control modules, and monitoring modules.

AUTOMATIC SEALING SYSTEMS FOR PREMISES BEING EXTINGUISHED

  • Fire dampers in openings of:
    • supply ventilation systems
    • exhaust ventilation systems
    • compensating systems
  • Door closers

FIRE-FIGHTING SYSTEMS:

  • Extinguishing medium container stations
  • Extinguishing medium distribution pipelines
  • Extinguishing medium nozzles
  • Gas extinguishing medium
    • Inert gas (nitrogen, argon, or mixtures of both)
    • Synthetic gas (chlorinated hydrocarbons)

GASES

Inert gases are natural components of the air. When used as a fire-fighting medium, they neither leave any pollution, nor produce toxic decomposition products in contact with fire. Their ozone layer depletion potential is equal to zero and they do not contribute to the greenhouse effect. Owing to their common availability, time and costs of recharging a fire-fighting system are reduced.

When discharged, inert gases quickly and uniformly fill the protected area and reach the extinguishing concentration within 60 seconds. They are safe to use in appropriately specified rooms where permanent presence of people is expected. In the course of discharging, perfect visibility is ensured due to the lack of any decomposition products of the extinguishing medium.
